There he meets Subbu (Ranadheer), Kiran (Narasimha) and Madhavi (Sonia). H gets to meet Baby (Aksha) through them.

Baby, who has also lost her parents as a child, usually visits an old-age home seeking solace and befriends the occupants.

One day on the occasion of Baby's birthday, Veerababu and friends arrange a party in a hotel. During the party some rowdies behave indecently with Baby. Veerababu enraged by their act, beats them all. Keeping the event in mind, the rowdy group attacks Veerababu and friends one day. During this Subbu gets hurt severely.

The operation cost gets estimated as 5 lakhs at the hospital, and the doctors warn that if is not performed Subbu may lose his life. Consequently, Veerababu and friends try all the ways for money but fails to get it. Finally, they approach Laddu Bhai (Narsingh Yadav) the villain, and they borrow the required amount promising to repay it in a week.

A week passes by, and Laddu Bhai starts pressuring them from the repayment. Not finding a way the friends plan to robe an ATM. Bad luck strikes them again and a stranger misleads Veerababu and Ajay and flees with the loot of 25 crores, trapping the friends in to the custody of Police. Police take them to the central prison.

Aksha - although this is her first film as a heroine, she did well in sentiment scenes and song sequences.

Kotha Bangaru Lokam Movie Review

Banner:Sri Venkateswara Creations
Cast:Varun Sandesh, Swetha, Brahmanandam, 'Ahuthi' Prasad, Rajitha, Vinay Prasad, Rao Ramesh, Phani, Sushma, Praveen, Chinnikrishna & others
Direction:Srikanth Addala
Production:'Dil' Raju
Music:Micky J Meyar

Kotha Bangaru Lokam starring Varun Sandesh of Happy Days fame and Swetha is produced by Dhil Raju, one of the most successful producers of Telugu film industry. This film is directed by debut director Srikanth Addala.

It is a good debut. Even though the film is a love story with college backdrop, it is the narration and the emotional chords that are touched that got things right for him.

As story goes, Balu (Varun sandesh) and Swapna (Swetha) are resident students in SVC Intermediate Residential college. As is usual, they fall in love and naturally they are seperated as parents do not approve of the teenage and that too intermediate love. The duo are caught in an intimate moment on a media camera and that exposes their love to the world. Swapna is pulled out of the school. How did they convince their parents? What is their thinking and how did they mature? That should be seen on screen.

Technically, it is the director all the way. Srikanth Addala handled story, dialogs, screenplay and direction departments for the film. Story wise, the film resembles many films. Well! It is a teenage story and college backdrop. But what makes this better is the narration. Honestly, the film starts weak. There is nothing much in the first half until the interval. Interval closing is pretty good and the second half is a decent one. So, what gets this film a better rating? It is the last 30 mins of the film that elevates the film. It gets emotionally touching. Best part is that all the loose ends with the message left through out the film are connected towards the climax and that presents the message with good impact. Dialogs are pretty good too. So overall, the film starts weak and gets better as the film progresses and the climax will leave an impact on the outgoing audience. The emotional part is nicely underplayed so that it does not get really sentimental (ointment) but is perfectly balanced enough to deliver the message. And then a simple smile that is brought with the slang of the heroine will let the audience leave with a light heart. That is where Srikanth scores. Scores big.

Also, dialogs by Srikanth are very good. There are some good dialogs that seem not justified during the run but feel perfect when the ends are all tied together in the climax.

Mickey J Meyer's music is pretty good. Almost all the songs are good and the background score is touching enough. Editing by Marthand Venkatesh is good. Chota K Naidu captured Vizag and Rajamundry locales in an interesting way.

In the cast, Prakashraj is excellent. It is his character that brings in lot of sympathies and elevates the film. As Dhil Raju recently noted in a press meet, it is true that there is no KBL without Prakashraj onscreen. His length is short alright. But the character is mould that it gets sympathy. If the audience cannot connect to that emotional feeling with the character, the film becomes almost below average. And only Prakashraj would be capable of garnering that required element.

Jayasudha is content in her role. But she is very effective with her one dialog that changes the course of the film. Ahuti Prasad is good. Dialogs written for him are good and he delivered it in the perfect way. Brahmanandam, Rao Ramesh and others are content in their roles.

As for the lead pair, Varun Sandesh could have been better. More grace is needed in his dances. In the first song, editing is done crisply to cover it up. Or so it seemed. Also modulation is required in his dialog delivery. Some of the dialogs lack the feel. But his smile is a big asset for him and he could cover most of his expressions in his role as boy next door. He looked much better in Happy Days. Swetha is good in her role. Even though she does not really give a positive impression in the first shot, she gradually grows on with the impression.

Srikanth Addala might not have come up with a new story line but is successful with his presentation of the message that teenagers and parents need better understanding. His screenplay, dialogs and direction deserve a pat on his back. There is not much comedy in the film but a little slang by the heroine and some comedy generated through the warden are good.

Overall, first half of the film is not great but closes with a good interval episode. Second half is good and climax is touching. Overall, this could be rated yet another good one from Dhil Raju.

Three Movie Review

Three - 'Three' tormenting the spectators
Banner:Raj India Entertainments
Cast:Rishi, Rajiv Kanakala, Urwasi Sharma, Santhichandra, Ravali, Ranganath, Harshavardhan, Benarji, Giridhar, Chaitanya, Kowshal, C.V.L.Narsimha Rao, Allu Ramesh
Direction:Shekhar Suri
Production:Phani Raj, G.S.Babu
Music:Vijay Kurakula

The suspense thriller 'A Film by Aravind' had brought good recognition for Shekhar Suri as a director. Recently, he directed 'Three' with Rishi, Rajiv Kanakala, Urvashi Sharma, Sharath Chandra and Harsha Vardhan in the main roles, produced on Raj (India) Entertainments Pvt Ltd. Categorised as a Psychological Thriller; the film is produced by Phani Raj. The film is released on the 17th of this month. A review is below to know if it’s worth a watch.

STORY

Sriram (Rishi) is an employee who works for the National Geographic Channel. Shashi (Kaushik) is his friend who resides along with Sriram in a flat. Sriram meets Nisha (Urvashi Sharma) here. Every night Nisha hears some mysterious screams. One day she tells Sriram that, someone named Shankar is trying to kill her, he is invisible and only his voice is heard. Sriram takes it all easily without giving it a thought.

He gets to meet psychiatrist Harsha (Harsha Vardhan) in a railway station. During their conversation Harsha learns about Nisha. He takes Sriram and Nisha to his senior colleague Dr.Sharath. Sharath (Ranganath) checks with Nisha and concludes that she has some psychological problems.

As a part to investigate her problem Sriram, Nisha and Harsha go to an island. There on the island they meet Nandu (Benarjee) and Rajiv (Rajiv Kanakala). Harsha says that Shankar might have been dead long ago, and his spirit is haunting Nisha. Upon seeing Rajiv, Nisha tells Sriram that he is the Shankar who wants to kill her.

Actually who is this Shankar? Why does he want to kill her? Why is Nisha afraid of Rajiv saying that he is Shankar? The story woven around all these questions has to be watched on screen.

Artists Performance

Urvashi Sharma who played a key role in this psychological thriller, was introduced to silver screen as a heroine through 'Nakab' in Bollywood. 'Three' happens to be her first film in Telugu. Although she doesn’t know the language, she has exhibited perfect emotions and gestures while portraying the character of Nisha. We can say that she is the main asset for the film.

Rajiv Kanakala as Rajiv has portrayed different shades of the character very well. Rishi as Sriram, Harsha Vardhan as Harsha, and Sharath Chandra as Shankar are passable. Ranganath as doctor, VijayChandar as father did well within the limits of their demeanours.

Technical values

Photography and Background music are the most important elements for any suspense thriller. In context to visualization and lighting Senthil Kumar has contributed good photography for the film. Sequences created with the use of Helium Balloon lights for the night-effects is spectacular.

Vijay Kurakula who scored tunes for 'A Film by Aravind', has bagged appreciation for his background scores in this film. Editing by BR Tirupathi is flawless but doesn’t deliver. Dialogues by HarshaVardhan sounded like the routine ones lacking freshness and punches. There is only one song in the entire film, that is penned by Vanamali, which is good to a certain extent.

Directors Portrayal

Director Shekhar Suri who made an outstanding suspense thriller 'A Film by Aravind', was more focused on the technicality of the film and neglected the importance of story line in making 'Three'. The void of a proper storyline, has miserably failed the director, who could thrill the expecting spectator with only visuals and sound. A taut look into the plot would have made the film an excellent thriller as his former.

Cons

Cons in the movie includes erratic and confusing lines of the story; The villa-set constructed in the forest, is clearly visible as an artificial one; The film is nowhere connected to the nativity of Telugu Cinema; Inclusion of more number of incarnations (life after life), made a comic of the so called suspense thriller; Most of the characters in the movie appear to be artificial. Last but not least, film goers were expecting a movie from the maker of ‘A Film by Arvind’ but the movie falls short in not one but many areas.

Criticism

Shekhar Suri was identified as a good director of suspense thrillers, more so with this venture 'A Film by Aravind'. However, the recent so called psycho-thriller 'Three' has tormented the viewer, with confusion and erratic line of story. The director has neglected the core point – the story of the film, and depended more than needed on the technical aspects. 'Three' is a good lesson to learn that, even if top quality is maintained in technicalities, and if the story is neglected the film will miserably fail the unit. Shekhar Suri might make a real thriller next time which might cope up for the torment rendered to the audience by Three.
Nenu Meeku Telusa Movie Review

Nenu Meeku Telusa - Fascinates With Stunning & Daring Visuals

Banner:Sree Lakshmi Prasana Pictures
Cast:Manchu Manoj, Sneha Ullal
Direction:Ajay Sastri
Production:Lakshmi Manchu
Music:Achu

STORY

Aditya aka Adi (Manoj) is the Manager of SS Group of companies in India. His father (P.Vasu) is a NRI millionaire. He goes to US to assist his father. After a gap of two years, he comes to India along with his father, to meet his girl friend Anjali (Sneha Ullal). However, before they could meet Anjali, they meet with an accident and his father gets killed while the protagonist suffers a loss of memory. He forgets everything once he goes to bed. Adi's paternal uncle (Nazar) turns as a caretaker and arranges for a doctor (Harsha Vardhan) to visit India once in every month to treat his nephew.

The doctor records, every day chores of Adi into a cassette in Adi's voice. And instructs him to listen to it daily to remember who he is and what he is supposed to do. This helps the hero do his daily work without depending on others. Adi's uncle (Nazar), who is the MD for SS Group of companies, is the only person who is aware of his rare disease apart from the doctor.

Madhumati (Riya Sen) is the vice-president of the same company. Suneel (Suneel) as GM, Rajesh (Uthej), Lakshmi (Surekha Rani) and fashion designer Barmani (Brahmanadam) also works for the same company. Adi meets Madhumathi in the company and falls in love with her. Although Adi could manage most of his daily works, he stumbles into troubles cause of his amnesia.

Suddenly one day Adi's uncle gets murdered, and police find the body in Adi's car. He gets arrested for the uncommitted crime. Incidentally, the case is taken up by Anjali (Sneha Ullal). Someone destroys the cassettes prepared by the doctor for Adi. How Adi is saved from the murder case? Who is Anjali? Who is behind the murder? All these are to be watched on screen.

Performance of Artists

If we have to mention about any special performances in the film, it is the hero Manoj's performance. Unlike his earlier films he has exhibited 3-kinds of body languages in this film. He showed one kind of body language in college sequences, another in the office environs and one more for the action scenes. In context with the appearance, body language and performance wise Manoj has taken a lot of care for this film. We see a completely new Manoj in this film. He has also written the first song for the film, and composed the first fight sequence in the film. Both of them have been done very well. Interestingly, Manoj repeats the popular dialogue of Mohanbabu from 'Pedarayudu' in this film. We should appreciate Manoj for all these achievements and his meticulous efforts to bring out his best.

Riya Sen has done very well in her role of a professional girl with the least glamour quotient. Introduced to Tollywood through 'Uthsahamga Ullasamga', actress Sneha Ullal did well as a lover and also in the role of an IPS Officer. Both the heroines are additional assets to the film.

Nazar as manoj’s uncle did well within the scope of his role. Brahmanandam as a fashion designer Brahmani, and Suneel as the General Manager Suneel are good. Surekha Vani as the girl friend of GM, has entertained the audience by tickling their funny bone.

A scene which is identical to a sequence in 'Super', has been canned on Ali and Brahmanandam. The characters of Ali, Tanikella Bharani, Raghu, Amit, Supreet, Anant and MallikarjunaRao, although appearing for a short time on screen have been portrayed brilliantly.

Technical Aspects

AjaySastry's screenplay is superb. Music composed by Achu and Dharan is good. Especially, the songs 'Kannu moosthe jananamele…' and 'Edo edo…' are nice. The background score is excellent and adds a mellifluous effect to the film. Manchu Manoj, Tim, Storms and Bob Chaplin's stunts plus Nandu and Julie Sabastians fights are good to watch.

Photography by Suneel K Reddy, especially the light-effects used for the fights, the slow-motion accident scene in the beginning of the film have been cinematographed sharply. Editing by Basva Padi Reddy and Naveen is nicely done with proper cuts. Without constructing sets for songs, the visuals done by Think Smart and Phixloyed are very good.

Director’s Portrayal

Director AjaySastry who debuted with this film, has taken a lot of care without compromising on anything. He has presented this film as a technical wonder which is very different from the routine formula. The narrative style used to tell the story and portrayal of the characters is quite unique. We can say with our eyes closed (of course after watching the movie) that AjaySastry is another newly founded talent for Tollywood. The director is sure to make slick coups in his upcoming films of the future.

Cons

The capabilities of Suneel and Brahmanandam were not fully utilized as they are capable to render even more performance. In the second half, hero's personal doctor (Harshavardhan) departs saying he will be back in an hour, and never returns. What happens to the doctor is not shown and becomes a silly void in screenplay. In the accident scene involving the hero and his father, it is not clearly shown as to what happens to the hero's father. The director's focus, shown on the hero's script in the first half has diminished in the second half. Yet, pros are abundant to shadow these flaws.

Criticism

Based on short time memory loss a film 'Memento' was produced in Hollywood a long time back. With this film as a inspiration, earlier 'Gajini' was made. With the same theme added with a flavor of little freshness 'Nenu Meeku Telusa?' is presented in a new way. In a nutshell, 'Nenu Meeku Telusa?' is an unusual experiment with a stunning look.

Teja's Keka Movie Review

Keka - An ultimatum for Teja’s creativity

Film: ‘Keka’; Cast: Raja, Ishana, Anup Kumar; Direction: Teja; Cinematography: P.C. Sreeram; Music Director: Chakri; Rating: *

Producer-director Teja has returned to filmdom after a hiatus of three years and it shows in ‘Keka’ as it not in keeping with the current trends and lacks modern methods of storytelling.

The movie obviously is a mix of earlier movies made by Teja, which weren’t much anyway.

Teja started his journey in filmdom with 'Chitram' made on the line of immature teenage love. Later, he made the love stories 'Nuvvu Nenu' & 'Jayam', with which he raised the craze for his film amongst youth and carved a niche for himself as a director in the industry.

'Lakshmi Kalyanam', 'Oka Vichitram' the films which followed 'Jayam' failed badly. With this blow he took a gap of 2years. He returned back now with his latest 'Keka' introducing Raja (son or lyricist Sirivennella Seetharama Sasty) and Ishana as lead pair. Produced on Chitram Movies banner, the film is released on 23rd backed by lot of expectations cause of extensive publicity. Here we present a review on the film.

Story

The protagonist Arjun (Raja) goes for fishing with his friends. He meets Sujatha (Ishana) there, and their introduction blossoms into love. Sujatha’s parents are against their love and arrange her marriage with Kiran (Anup) who happens to be a close friend of Arjun. Learning about the marriage fixing, Arjun leaves for Kolkata just to keep away from Sujatha. There in Kolkatha a group tries to attack and kill Arjun. What is the reason for it? Did Kiran marry Sujatha? Was it a happy ending for their love story? To find answers to all these questions one has to go and watch Keka.

Performance of Artists

Raja son of popular lyrics writer Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, is debuted as a hero with Keka. His acting is a mere ok and not filled with flaws. But his body language, costumes and hairstyle does not impress the viewers, in fact it’s very bad.

Ishana from Ajmer is introduced as a heroine. She is the main attraction to the film. Her portrayal of Sujatha is not so plausible. If she improves her acting skill, there are chances for her to get better offers. Dharmavarapu Subrahmaniyam & Rallapalli who appear regularly in Teja's films, are seen in a cameo and tried their best to deliver whatever they got within the allotted roles.

Anup as Kiran, Basha, Talaivaasal Vijay, Duvvasi Mohan, Moil Swamy, Vaiyyapuri, Bengali actor Nimmu Bhoumik have presented an average performance.

Technical Values

The photography of PC Sriram is the special attraction to the film. His work in featuring the songs is excellent.

For the first time Chakri has composed music for Teja's film. Although they are not very catchy, the songs are not cacophonous either.

Director’s Portrayal

For those who watched 'Chitram' and 'Nuvvu Nenu' the earlier films of Teja, will wonder if 'Keka' is made by the same director himself. He took 2 years gap to reconsider the points which failed the films he made before Keka. This time also he missed to focus on the script part of the film and concentrated only on music and photography in Keka.

While watching ‘Keka’ it makes the audience wonder whether the director has the stamina in him to deliver quality movies as he did earlier. He was incognito for almost two years and now his comeback doesn’t reflect much of an improvement in his directional skills.

Cons

Every time film goers expect an innovative story line but Keka has the same old story with a not so new screenplay. A bad flaw is that not even a single scene could reap applause from the audience. Comical attempts by the new comers doesn’t evoke laughter but is simply disgusting

The serious dialogues delivered by the heroine sound funny. Kiran's character looks childish and immature. Although the technicalities are good, they are wasted cause of the void in script, the film appears as a soulless body.

Criticism

One was expecting director Teja to comeback refreshingly different after his long penance but alas! The maker didn’t understand the core concept of film making even after this break and did Keka in the same dud formula. The scenes that are projected on screen are senseless and boring one after the other. In short, Teja’s Keka is one more dud that desperately fails to impress. It just reaps an ultimatum for the creative director.

Bottomline -It’s just not worth your time
